Blonde Brownies

Ingredients 

  • 2/3 cup butter
  • 2 cups brown sugar
  • 2 eggs
  • 2 teaspoons vanilla
  • 1/4-1/2 cup water
  • 2 cups flour
  • 1/4 teaspoon baking soda
  • 1 teaspoon baking powder
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • Chocolate chips
  • Walnuts, if desired

 

Directions

  1. Preheat oven to 350 degrees. 
  2. Melt butter in saucepan and add brown sugar. Cool for several minutes. 
  3. Add two eggs and vanilla to the cooled mixture, then allow to cool further. 
  4. Sift together all dry ingredients, then add them to the saucepan and blend well. Consistency should be like brownie batter, not thin like cake batter. 
  5. Add 1/4 to 1/2 cups of water and mix well. 
  6. Pour into greased and floured 9 x 13 inch pan. Sprinkle with chocolate chips (and walnuts, if desired). Bake for 30-35 minutes, or until toothpick comes out clean.
